West Vail

Located on both sides of I-70, you’ll find the extremely diverse and eclectic neighborhood of West Vail. This older, established neighborhood was where many of the early European immigrants to Vail built their first homes. Hence, you’ll find distinctly Bavarian, Swiss, and French-style architecture in West Vail and streets named Garmisch, Chamonix, Cortina, Davos, etc. These homes are all found on the north side of I-70, directly north of the West Vail interchange.

Conversely, on the south side of I-70, you’ll find the Intermountain/Interlochen area which has been a locals’ favorite over the decades. Here, you’ll find an assortment of condos, duplexes, and single-family homes. The popular Vail bike path is easily accessible from the Intermountain side which takes you along Gore Creek before it merges with the Eagle River.

Residents in West Vail love the proximity to grocery shopping at City Market and Safeway, as well as Ace Hardware, a handful of restaurants, Starbucks, and other service providers. There is a convenient gas station as well as a new fire station in West Vail.
