Denver’s Wellshire Neighborhood, nestled just a short drive to the southeast of downtown Denver, boasts a unique blend of urban convenience and suburban charm. The Wellshire neighborhood is predominantly comprised of classic ranches built in the late 1950s and early 1960s. Many of these homes have been completely remodeled while others, especially on the north end, have been scraped and replaced with new builds. Many families specifically choose to live here due to the Slavens School, a Denver Public Schools K-8 school. After being closed for nearly 14 years, Slavens re-opened in 1996 because of a strong parent community. It is a high performing DPS school, and is consistently ranked in the top 2% of all district schools.
