Silverthorne

What began as a work camp for the building of the Dillon Dam in the early 1960s, is now the vibrant retail and residential hub of Silverthorne. Incorporated in 1967, Silverthorne has become a retail destination with its factory outlet stores and a popular choice for homeowners.

Conveniently located on the north side of I-70, Silverthorne serves as the gateway to a large swath of Summit County. Both Keystone and Arapahoe Basin ski areas lie to the southeast of Silverthorne and Dillon Reservoir is a stone’s throw away on the south side of the interstate. The Gold Medal waters of the Blue River flows through the community, providing some of the best trout fishing in the area.

Along both sides of the Blue River Parkway (Highway 9), you’ll find condo and single-family housing developments. One of the largest condominium developments is Wildernest, which was developed in the 1980s. With Buffalo Mountain in its backyard, these condos have been a popular choice for homeowners.

Furthermore, Silverthorne has recognized the importance of bringing the arts to Summit County and four years ago completed construction of the Silverthorne Performing Arts Center. This 16,000 square foot state of the art facility hosts an array of art exhibits, community events, theater and live concerts throughout the year. Home to the Lake Dillon Theater Company, this grassroots organization is excited to once again offer 2021 performances for both summer and fall. Check out the latest developments and schedule here.

Like Denver, the community has launched the First Friday series that focus not only on artists in the community, but also the creative forces in cooking, craft brewing, music and other specialties, all of whom make Silverthorne a special place.
