This neighborhood is often referred to as Washington Park’s sister neighborhood as they bear many similarities in architecture and feel. Its boundaries are Mississippi, Broadway, Evans, Downing and Buchtel.

Architecture and Homes in Platt Park

Located just to the southwest of Washington Park and on the other side of I-25, the Platt Park neighborhood is quaint and energetic, and homes are typically priced lower than that of its better-known counterpart. You’ll find brick bungalows, two-story majestic wood frame structures, a smattering of Victorians, and even new construction on the north end of the area. Responding to the call for modern residences, the Platt Park neighborhood offers dynamic, contemporary single-family homes and duplexes to meet the housing demand in the southeast urban corridor.

Platt Park is conveniently situated near two of the RTD light rail stops — Louisiana/Pearl and I-25/Broadway. If you’re taking your car downtown, it’s an easy commute via Santa Fe, Broadway, Downing or I-25.

Restaurants and Culture

Named in 1897 after James Platt, a business executive who moved here in the late 1800s, Platt Park neighborhood is best known for its venerable Old South Pearl Street. A trolley line used to connect Platt Park to downtown Denver along with South Pearl and even though the trolley has been gone for decades, Old South Pearl Street remains a vibrant part of Denver. Home to the Old South Pearl Street Farmers’ Market, people will find produce, baked goods, and other home essentials at what has been voted one of Denver’s best farmers’ markets.

The Platt Park People’s Association is a recognized neighborhood organization, and it produces a regular newsletter and hosts happy hours, special events, picnics, and movie nights.

Platt Park neighborhood has no lack of restaurants and shopping. Along Broadway, you’ll find many antique stores and Corvus Coffee Roasters. On historic Old South Pearl Street, enjoy some of these highlights of this charming stretch of the neighborhood:
