Lincoln Park
Noteworthy Mention of the Lincoln Park Neighborhood
Denver’s Lincoln Park Neighborhood is a historic area located just south of downtown Denver and the Auraria campus. It is one of Denver’s oldest neighborhoods and includes many homes built in the early 1900s. Additionally, this area provides exceptional rental and for-sale housing opportunities for a mixed-income population. Its location next to the RTD light rail stop at 10th and Osage has made it a popular choice for both families and young adults who want to live close to downtown.
Architecture and Homes in Lincoln Park
Named after Abraham Lincoln, Lincoln Park Neighborhood has a mix of housing types with a majority of the residences being constructed in or before the early 1900s. There has recently been a large influx of newer construction and affordable housing. A walking tour of the neighborhood will reveal a variety of historic landmarks and preserved properties. There are two-story Victorians, vintage rowhomes, charming duplexes and timeless brick bungalows.
Additionally, many sections of Lincoln Park have undergone redevelopment, the signature effort being the Mariposa project. This housing venture adjacent to the RTD light rail consists of four buildings, which feature LEED-certified townhomes and flats. Mariposa amenities include the Osage Cafe, a farmer’s market during the summer and Bike Depot, a nonprofit community bike shop that supports Denver communities with a wide range of bicycling programs, services and products.
Recreation and Culture
The community’s signature park is home to La Alma Recreation Center. This city of Denver operated facility offers a full slate of classes and programs for all ages. In addition to the gym, weight room and game rooms, Lincoln Park has an outdoor pool, amphitheater, basketball courts, baseball fields, a playground, and picnic area. The area is also home to the Art District on Santa Fe. This area is a nationally known arts and cultural district, encompassing hundreds of galleries, studios, theaters, and creative businesses along Santa Fe Drive. The First Friday Art Walks are the signature event of Denver’s Art District on Santa Fe. The District comes alive as thousands descend upon the Santa Fe Drive, year-round, rain or shine, for the First Friday Art Walks from 5:30-9:30 p.m.
Residents here enjoy easy access to Denver’s Golden Triangle neighborhood (the theater and museum district) and Denver’s Art Museum.
