Hampden neighborhood is located in the southeast quadrant of Denver. Its boundaries are Yale Ave. to the north, Hampden Ave. on the south, Havana St. to the east and I-25 on the west. This area was developed in the 1960s and 1970s when families desired newer homes and larger yards. As a result, many of the homes are ranch style on large lots. Hampden neighborhood is popular among families and those seeking easy access to the Denver Tech Center. In addition to many single family homes, you will find an assortment of apartments and townhomes.
Recreation and Culture
Bible Park serves as the heart of Hampden neighborhood. This sprawling, well-maintained 70-acre city park is named after James A. Bible, a long-time Denver Parks and Recreation employee, and features a beautiful 1.7-mile walking trail around the park (which parallels the Highline Canal). You’ll find many a sports team, whether lacrosse, football, baseball, soccer or softball, practicing and playing games on the fields. The walking paths are popular among runners, cyclists and dog walkers, and you can enjoy a break at the many benches and picnic tables dotting the landscape.
The Highline Canal and trail form the perimeter of Bible Park but the Goldsmith Gulch trail also cuts through Bible Park. Other popular parks in Hampden neighborhood include Hampden Heights and Hentzel Park. Cherry Creek and the accompanying bike path runs along Hentzel Park.
Restaurants
There is an assortment of retail, shopping and dining options along the Hampden corridor so there is little reason to look elsewhere. Anything from Target and Whole Foods to family-owned ethnic restaurants, this busy strip of highway has all the essentials for daily living in community.
Hampden's Commuter Accessibility
In addition to its advantageous proximity to the Denver Tech Center (DTC), residents of the charming Hampden neighborhood enjoy convenient access to the light rail system. This accessibility is facilitated through the nearby Yale or Southmoor stations located just off of Interstate 25 (I-25), enhancing the area’s connectivity and ease of travel for its inhabitants.
