Bennett

Bennett

Bennett is proud of its small town designation yet delights in its proximity to the services and amenities of the Denver metro area. Located 25 miles east of Denver’s downtown area, it has become a popular location for people wanting to escape the fast pace of the city.

Although the town wasn’t Incorporated until 1930, Bennett’s roots go back to 1862 when the Bennet (no extra t) brothers moved into the area and filed homesteading papers. Their name was eventually anglicized and members of the family held a variety of positions in the town including titles of postmaster, judge and rancher.

Today, Bennett appeals to people seeking a refuge from Denver and those looking for more affordable housing. Since the 1990s, Bennett has seen a steady increase in population. Close to 2,500 people now live in the region.

The homes in Bennett are generally priced lower than those in the metro area and buyers “get more bang for their buck.” In addition to commuters, the area is populated by a large percentage of people working in local retail and construction trades.

The I-70 corridor allows for an easy commute to downtown Denver and its eastern counterparts. Unlike other metro area roadways, this section of I-70 has little traffic until you reach Aurora.

The popular Kiowa Creek Sporting Club is nearby offering annual memberships or daily entrance fees to people interested in sporting clays, archery, dog training and bird hunting. Located in a beautiful wooded creek bottom, the property has long been a coveted dove hunting site. The fields of sunflowers, milo and wooded creek bottom draw large numbers of the birds to the area every fall. Each year in September, the town celebrates  “Bennett Days” with a car show, great food, music and entertainment for everyone.
