Events at the Park

The City Park Esplanade Fresh Market has been a regular stop in the neighborhood for the past two decades. The market is staged around historic Sullivan Fountain so people can appreciate the wonderful City Park architecture and statues. The fresh market runs on Sundays from June through October from morning until early afternoon. Come enjoy the best mix of local produce, fresh food, organic treats and food vendor fare. People love the free parking.

Keep an eye out for seasonal festivals and entertainment such as the summer jazz concerts that often takes place at City Park. City Park Jazz is a ton of fun for groups of friends and families, occurring every Sunday night in the summer for 10 weeks. Bring a picnic and stay for the great music. It typically runs from June – August each year.

Visit the Zoo and IMAX

City Park Denver is home to many facilities and park amenities. The Denver Museum of Nature and Science, IMAX theater and the Denver Zoo are all found in City Park. If you plan to move to the area, Denver Parks and Recreation offer tennis lessons, kickball leagues and children’s summer camp. The playgrounds and picnic sites are popular venues for families, and the lake activities on Ferril Lake can’t be beat. The Denver Museum of Nature and Science offers many free days throughout the year. For people who love music,  “America’s Musical Journey” is now playing at the IMAX through Dec. 31, 2018. The exhibit features artists, music, and innovators of blues, jazz and old-time country. The Denver Zoo offers many exhibits and varied programming throughout the year. Like the Museum of Nature and Science, the Denver Zoo also has free days.

Sightseeing

Another great site to visit is the City Park Pavilion. This amazing structure was part of a “City Beautiful” campaign in the late 1800s.  The pavilion is an exquisite place for photo opportunities with views of the City Park Band Shell, Ferril Lake, Sopris Garden and the Denver skyline. Listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places, the City Park Pavilion features Spanish-style architecture complete with  arches and unique towers.
