Denargo Market: Revitalizing Denver’s Urban Core

Introduction: The Vision of Denargo Market

One of the most exciting infill projects in Denver right now is Denargo Market. Seated on 17 acres of prime urban land, Denargo Market is more than just a construction project; it is the embodiment of urban revitalization.

Envisioned as a vibrant, day-to-night destination, Denargo Market won’t just exist alongside the South Platte river; it aims to actively embrace it. The whole project—from the RiNo Promenade to the National Western Complex—will be oriented toward the South Platte, with seamless connections to South Platte River Trail systems and the future River Mile trail network.

Denargo Market Construction: An Overview

Groundbreaking for Phase I of Denargo Market was made in September 2023. It was the start of a two-year horizontal construction project that addresses not just the infrastructure but also environmental remediation, stormwater management, underground utilities, and a network of pedestrian-focused streets.

For residents and visitors alike, Denargo Market pledges more than four acres of public amenities. This will include modernized sports courts, a revamped dog park, an activated pedestrian plaza, and one of the largest interactive public art installations in Denver. This is in addition to an excellent extension of the RiNo Promenade and a welcoming half-acre green lawn for entertainment, fitness and picnicking opportunities.

The Long-Term Impact: Connecting and Enhancing Communities

But Denargo Market’s impact stretches far beyond its immediate boundaries. It will act as a vital nexus—a key link between RiNo and Denver’s urban core—stitching together previously disjointed areas of the surrounding neighborhoods. This improved connectivity will not only enhance pedestrian and cyclist circulation, but also strengthen the overall fabric of the neighborhood as a seamless extension of Denver’s downtown.

Once completed, the Denargo Market development will offer three million square feet of residential, retail, office, and hospitality space to Denver’s skyline. While the full project is expected to take a decade to complete, Phase I is scheduled to be finished by Q3 2025. This first phase will already bring immense value to the community by transforming the riverside greenspace, and introducing a series of public parks, sports courts, and recreational areas.

Denargo Market is more than just a construction project—it’s a step towards a more connected, vibrant, and sustainable Denver.
