Grab a Cup of Joe in Highlands

Grab a Cup of Joe in Highlands

Just northwest of Denver, you’ll find some of the most eclectic, charismatic and diverse shops and restaurants in the Highland Denver neighborhood. Quaint bungalows and chic boutiques rub shoulders with neighborhood pubs and comfy-cozy coffee spots along the bike and pedestrian-friendly streets. Sit back and enjoy a cup of coffee and a pastry at one of these local favorites.

Novo Coffee | 3617 W. 32nd Ave.

Founded in 2002 by the Brodsky brothers, Novo Coffee scours the globe to find your perfect cup of coffee. Novo is all about educating its customers about coffee, too. Keep a close eye on their calendar of events to find a classes on how to brew the perfect cup of coffee and roast that perfect bean.

Pinwheel Coffee | 3659 Navajo St.

The chic yet cozy Pinwheel Coffee is a real-world study center. The shop, its food and even the website are all created and run by the students of Denver Montessori Junior/Senior High School and Compass Montessori School. High-quality locally roasted coffee is used, and tasty pastries are baked in the schools’ culinary programs. Fresh eggs and goat cheese, as well as seasonal produce, are also available from farm projects run by the students. Oh, to be a kid, again!

Café Zuri | 3718 W. 32nd Ave.

European coffee culture roots grow deep at Highland Denver’s Café Zuri. Freshly baked apple strudel, French croissants and Danish pastries, and other delectable delights await. This comfortable café isn’t all coffee and crullers, however. From Irish coffee to espresso martinis, they’ve got it all. An exciting menu of German, Danish, Spanish, and Czech beer, German wine, Irish whiskey, Italian Sambuca, French Chartreuse and many other international liqueurs are ready to order.

Queensberry Coffee House | 3408 Navajo St.

Stroll into Queensberry Coffee House and enjoy just the right amount of rustic, repurposed charm, exposed brick walls and friendly, neighborhood history. Sit back and enjoy a great cup of coffee or tea, and a sandwich or pastry. We love the breakfast taco with spicy chorizo and fresh salsa verde. The kitchen closes at 3 p.m., so don’t make that lunch too late!

Babe’s Tea Room | 2401 15th St.

British scones with imported Devonshire cream? Yes, please! Babe’s Tea Room is a quaint tea room born of owner Jessica’s love of her English background. Teas are sourced from around the world, and are coupled with sandwiches, salads, soups, or the iconic afternoon tea.

Highlands Cork & Café | 3701 W. 32nd Ave

Shawn Manzanares’ 2007 conversion of her family’s 100-year-old home ignited Highlands Cork & Café, one of the first privately owned coffee houses in the Highland Denver neighborhood. The shop is a great place to come for a cup of coffee first thing in the morning, a grilled panini for lunch or a glass of wine on their patio after work. This eatery is pooch-friendly — water bowls and dog biscuits are plentiful.
